Techo International Airport Expands with New Flights from Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways

Techo International Airport (KTI), Cambodia’s state-of-the-art aviation hub, is set to experience a significant boost in international connectivity as Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways prepare to launch direct flights to Cambodia. Starting from October 3, 2025, both airlines will establish new routes to Phnom Penh, marking a pivotal moment for the airport’s development.

The addition of Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways to Techo International Airport will not only enhance connectivity but also signal the airport’s growth as a key player in Southeast Asia’s aviation landscape. Turkish Airlines will offer flights between Istanbul and Phnom Penh, while Etihad Airways will connect Abu Dhabi to Cambodia’s newest international gateway.

This new chapter for the airport represents Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to bolster its tourism industry. With these new services, the airport is poised to become a more significant hub for international travelers, offering enhanced convenience and accessibility to the country.

Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways are two of the world’s leading airlines, each known for their expansive international networks. The launch of these services is a crucial step for Cambodia’s aviation and tourism sectors, providing better access to travelers from Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. The addition of these two airlines aligns with Techo International Airport’s objective of strengthening its position as a premier airport in Southeast Asia.

Both Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways will commence direct services to Techo International Airport in October 2025. Etihad Airways is scheduled to launch its inaugural flight from Abu Dhabi to Phnom Penh on October 3, 2025, followed by Turkish Airlines connecting Istanbul with Techo International Airport.

This significant development comes at a time when Cambodia is seeing increasing global interest as a tourist destination, further solidifying its place on the world tourism map. The launch of these new direct flights is expected to ease travel to the country and attract a new wave of international visitors.

The direct flights from Istanbul and Abu Dhabi to Phnom Penh are part of Cambodia’s broader strategy to elevate its global presence and increase the number of international tourists visiting the country. The Ministry of Tourism has already acknowledged the significant potential for tourism growth, and these new routes will help facilitate the country’s goal of becoming a key destination for travelers in Southeast Asia.

The introduction of direct flights from Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways to Techo International Airport is expected to positively influence Cambodia’s tourism industry. Both airlines have robust passenger networks, making it easier for tourists from Europe and the Middle East to access Cambodia’s historic landmarks, beautiful landscapes, and cultural attractions.

The new routes will also enhance the country’s ability to connect with new tourist markets, which is essential for a growing economy that relies heavily on tourism. Additionally, the connectivity offered by these airlines will likely encourage business travelers, tourists, and expatriates to visit and stay in Cambodia.

With these new routes in place, Techo International Airport is on track to meet its ambitious growth targets. The airport aims to handle 13 million passengers annually in its first phase, with plans for further expansion as the demand for international travel increases. As more airlines recognize the airport’s potential, Techo International will continue to play a crucial role in linking Cambodia to the rest of the world.

The arrival of Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways signals the beginning of a new era for the airport, supporting Cambodia’s long-term tourism and economic development goals. With more airlines expected to follow suit, Techo International is set to become a bustling hub for international travel in the coming years.
